Standard SyteLine provides audit trails for only a portion of it's numerous database tables such as customer orders, PO's, and material transactions. It does not audit many critical tables and fields that affect system rules and user access. Therefore, users may accidentally or purposely cause costly changes to Job Scheduling or grant Can-Update/Add permissions to other users without any record of those changes. Companies who realize the need for more thorough auditing simply need a flexible audit utility.

Moreover, section 404 of the federal government's Sarbane-Oxley Act requires that companies now implement documentation of their staff's internal roles and responsibilities. And, roles and responsibilities correlate to user permissions in SyteLine. Since permissions are maintained in database fields, this "SOX" requirement is easily addressed by automatic auditing of permissions fields using the utility.

The Database Audit Utility audits any field in any Progress database. In addition to settings, parameters, and permissions, it is useful for auditing Item Masters, Employee Masters, or any other table. It is based on a generic design and database triggers.

The Database Audit Utility is designed as a standalone application. Therefore, your SyteLine system is NOT considered modified. It requires some familiarity with the SyteLine database and with database triggers. It is extremely flexible because it can monitor any field and table.
